As well as a series of over 50  lectures that you and your team can attend, you can get the facts behind the BDIA’s important Counterfeit and Substandard Instruments and Devices Initiative (CSIDI). Poor quality and even illegal products are a growing problem for the UK dental profession. This initiative aims to raise awareness and to help prevent the risks associated with substandard products.

About the CSIDI, Mick Armstrong, Chair of the BDA Principal Executive Committee, said, “The BDA encourages all dentists to source equipment from legitimate, reputable manufacturers and suppliers who can demonstrate that the necessary legal requirements are being met. That will ensure both the quality of equipment purchased, and that dentists, their colleagues and patients are protected”.

The CSIDI is one of many initiatives and collaborations the BDIA is currently undertaking. You can find out more at Dental Showcase, including the new BDIA Code of Practice for CPD to help maintain the quality of CPD, a Dental Industry Manifesto championing a number of industry-wide issues, and a strategic partnership with the BDA that fosters support for areas of mutual interest.

If that isn’t enough, you may also wish to check out the new Dietary Zone, supported by The Dairy Council, which looks at the latest thinking in the link between diet and oral health, and how you can help patients by providing appropriate advice.
