3D printer used to create jaw implant

A 23-year-old Syrian man has received a jaw implant made from titanium after a bullet wound destroyed his lower jaw.

According to the Jerusalem Post, doctors at Rambam Medical Centre in Haifa, Israel created the implant using a 3D printer.

Professor Adi Rachmiel, director of Rambam’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, performed the operation with Dr Yoav Lesier. One day after surgery, the patient was eating and speaking.
