The General Dental Council has successfully prosecuted an Essex-based woman for illegally offering tooth whitening services. Victoria Reeve pleaded guilty at Colchester Magistrates’ Court to offering a ‘self-administered’ method of tooth whitening at the Nail Bar, Halstead, Essex.
Her website also claimed she was using a banned chemical to whiten teeth, namely sodium perborate. Despite receiving two previous warning letters from the GDC, Ms Reeve was alleged to have continued offering the service.
She was fined £1000, ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge and full costs to the GDC of £939.71.
We recently covered the growing prevalence of these teeth whitening cases, which you can find here.
